What is a seed library?

Simply put, a seed library encourages communities to plant gardens by lending seeds to be planted, teaching gardening to newcomers, and finally education on how to save seeds for future borrowers. It is a place in the community to exchange seeds and knowledge.

Although seed libraries are relatively new, the idea of saving seeds has been around as long as there have been farmers.

What makes a seed library so appealing to me is the hope this endeavor will result in closer knit community ties that will be re-introduced making us a better, stronger group of people.

Everything that grows starts with a single seed. Shouldn't we preserve those seeds and help build a better future.
